CHERRY HILL, NJ — Santucci’s Original Square Pizza could open quite soon in Cherry Hill.
The Philly-famous pizzeria plans to have a soft opening within the next few weeks, the franchisees told Patch. An opening date hasn’t been determined, as the eatery is waiting for some inspections to be completed.
It will be located in the Holly Ravine Plaza (100 Springdale Rd.).
Santucci’s has long been a recognizable name in Philadelphia’s pizza scene. In 1959, Joseph and Philomena Santucci opened their first namesake restaurant in the city. Their family recipe — making pizza in a square pan with the sauce above the cheese — was considered unconventional at first but has since inspired pizzerias throughout Greater Philly.
The square pizzeria now has about a dozen locations, with more in the works for South Jersey. Another location is planned for Deptford, while The Taproom in Haddon Township is adding Santucci’s to their menu.
Franchisees Steve Bombaro and John Dingler are operating Santucci’s in Cherry Hill.
